I remember,
You said: “I will be there”
I memorise,
You said: “I won’t change”
I recollect,
You whispered: “Let them doubt, but we will be together”
I heard,
You told me: “I will take up the responsibility, I will be in charge”
I smiled,
You held my hand while crossing the road.
I recapitulate,
You planned beautiful times for me without feeling burdened.
I cried,
You said: “I cannot see you cry”
I remembered you
I remembered your words
I remembered the movement of your lips while you said all that
Life changed alot, yet
I remembered that you forgot
“I don’t really remember” you said and that’s all I got!
Beautiful Shruti ! Enjoyed reading it.

On a rough estimate, six out of ten would have either endured or caused such experiences, but the attraction of love never dies as it is rightly said: “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing.” Despite such painful experiences of rejection and separation, hearts get attracted in an eternal saga of romantic relationship as designed by Cupid, making this world go round and round on the wheels of love. Thanks for having narrated the pangs of ‘forgotten love’ with vivid poetic imagery!

Hi Prateek,
Welcome to my space and thanks for your meaningful comment!
I am amazed to see that you took the pulse of the poem:)
While I was ending the poem, even I felt that the ending was painful and the last two lines said it all. Glad you could see that emotion.
Great to meet you! 🙂

Thank you so much for the warm welcome, Shruti. 🙂 And I am elated to know that I was able to do justice to the feelings with which you wrote this. I am very new to the blogging world and will definitely learn a lot from the passion with which you write 🙂

Oh Paul,
I’m so touched. But how did you know I was a little not fine. Nothing to worry. Just little ups and downs and head thinking just too much!
I’m fine now:)
I really really owe this to you my dear friend:)
